Vol. 6 No. 2 (2026): Special Issue: Anglican Ecclesiology and Global Mission

In this special summer edition, we explore the reality of ecclesiology and global mission within the global Anglican communion. How does a church led by bishops participate in pioneer missions where there is no church? To answer this, Brad Roderick and Ed Smither begin by considering historic models of Anglican ecclesiology (mission societies, chaplains, missionary bishops). From there, Steven Rutt revisits Roland Allen’s missional ecclesiology by probing Allen’s thoughts on the “Spirit and Order” in mission. Duane Alexander continues the conversation by exploring contextualizing clergy roles in pioneer mission contexts. The final four contributors—Grant LeMarquand, Aaron Pelot, Leah Kadwell, and Tara Jernigan—analyze modern case studies of ecclesiology and Anglican mission in Ethiopia, Japan, India, and Mexico. Though this edition focuses on Anglican global mission, the findings ought to speak to the broader global church’s reflection on ecclesiology and mission.
