General Revelation, Communication Theory, and the Same God Question

Abstract

The inquiry into whether Muslims and Christians worship the same God has been a subject of intense debate in recent years. This article suggests that a more nuanced understanding of general and special revelation, in combination with insights from communication theory, can bring clarity to the discussion. To provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the theological and intercultural dimensions of this question, this article proposes a unique tool—the "Revelatory Spectrum." This spectrum serves as a practical guide that can help in facilitating discussions about God in culturally sensitive, yet biblically accurate ways.
